The Carpooling Network is operated by COVOITURAGEMONTREAL Inc., a private company, initially known as its first website, www.covoituragemontreal.com. The Carpooling Network was launched in November 2005 thanks to the initiative of two young entrepreneurs who wished to contribute to the environmental cause.

Since its inception, The Carpooling Network has developed unique technologies in the industry which enable organizations of all sizes to make a simple and effective management of sustainable mobility programs. Software and management tools developed by The Carpooling Network are functional for all provinces of Canada and anywhere in the United States and they can also be adapted to countries and regions outside of North America.

Mission et objectives

The primary mission of The Carpooling Network is to provide its affiliates partners (employers, institutions such as colleges and universities, municipalities, transit agencies, etc.) with the tools and consulting services necessary for the implementation and an effective management of sustainable mobility program. In addition, The Carpooling Network is devoted to promote carpooling as an alternate mode of transportation to public transit systems.

Through an online software primary built to match people wishing to form a carpool, The Carpooling Network acts as an intermediary between registered members and makes no business of transporting people.

The Carpooling Network has many objectives such as reducing the number of vehicles on the roads, reducing traffic congestion and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. As additional objective, The Carpooling Network aims to collaborate with transit agencies to offer a complementary mode of transportation to their existing network.
